Nandyal: The declaration of Amaravati as the permanent capital of Andhra Pradesh marks a historic milestone in the state’s journey, said district collector G Raja Kumari. On Thursday, grand celebrations were organised on the PRS premises of the collectorate, where district officials and staff participated enthusiastically. The venue was decorated with colourful rangolis and lights, creating a festive atmosphere. The collector inaugurated the event by lighting a ceremonial lamp and cutting a cake, joining officials and employees in the celebrations.

Addressing the gathering, the collector noted that following the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh, the absence of a capital city had been a major setback to the state’s development. However, she emphasised that under the visionary leadership and strong resolve of the Chief Minister, along with the collective participation of the people, a solid foundation has been laid for developing Amaravati as the new capital. She added that people across the state are celebrating the occasion with great enthusiasm, with a festive spirit evident from villages to towns and in all government offices.

The collector further said that Amaravati is not just a capital city but a symbol of the state’s future aspirations, representing development, transparent governance, and modern infrastructure. She expressed confidence that Amaravati will emerge as the focal point for fulfilling the aspirations of the people of Andhra Pradesh. On behalf of the district administration, she conveyed heartfelt congratulations to the Chief Minister and the state government for making this historic achievement possible. Officials and staff present at the event reaffirmed their belief that Amaravati will play a crucial role in the state’s progress. Senior officials, including DRO Ramu Naik and District Agriculture Officer Venkateswarlu, along with Collectorate staff, attended the programme.
