Speaking in Ongole town on Sunday, the BC Welfare Association president Kesana Shankara Rao said that the YSRCP and Jaganmohan Reddy had made several promises on various occasions for the welfare of the BCs in the state and that was the reason BCs stood support to the party.

Ongole: The newly elected government and the chief minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy should give rightful share to the backward classes in the state and must implement 34 percent reservation in the local body elections to them, demanded the Andhra Pradesh BC Welfare Association.

Speaking in Ongole town on Sunday, the BC Welfare Association president Kesana Shankara Rao said that the YSRCP and Jaganmohan Reddy had made several promises on various occasions for the welfare of the BCs in the state and that was the reason BCs stood support to the party.

He demanded the chief minister to end the discrimination towards the BCs by the earlier governments and keep his promises. He demanded that the State and central governments must protect the 34 percent reservation to BCs in the local bodies, provide 50percent reservation to BCs in legislative houses, provide 50 percent reservation to BCs in the women reservation bill pending at parliament, categorize BC reservations into ABCD, provide reservations in the private sector, provide legal status to BC Sub Plan and bring a similar act like POA on SC ST in support of BCs to end discrimination and abuse of backward classes.

The honorary president Kunchala Venkateswarlu, legal advisor Shaik Azeez, treasurer Pendyala Narayana, district president Goli Tirupati Rao, Dr. Kanchana Obuleshu and others also participated in the program.
