Arjuna awardee and Vijayawada archer Vennam Jyothi Surekha has been selected to represent Indian team for the upcoming World Cup Stage-I to be held at Medellin, Colombia in April

Vijayawada: Arjuna awardee and Vijayawada archer Vennam Jyothi Surekha has been selected to represent Indian team for the upcoming World Cup Stage-I to be held at Medellin, Colombia in April.

She would also represent the country at the World Cup Stage-III which would be held in Antalya, Turkey in May.

Surekha will also participate at the Senior World Cup Championship to be held at Netherlands in June. The selection trials for the above mentioned events were held at Bhubaneswar from March 16 to 18.

Surekha was ranked first by scoring 2801/2880 in ranking round and won 10/11 matches and was ranked one in round robin matches. She secured 12/12 points and was ranked first in the selection trials.

In these trials, she created new national record in double fifth round by scoring 707/720 and surpassed the old record 706/720 by her last Wednesday at the senior nationals which is the Surekha's best score in recent times.
