APTDC mulls five-star hospitality for tourists in E-Godavari district
- To build two five star hotels in Konaseema and Agency area at an estimated cost of Rs 200 crore

- Temple tourism, water tourism, eco-tourism, boat shires and cruise to picturesque Papikondalu etc are available in the district
Rajamahendravaram: Andhra Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation (APTDC) is contemplating to improve its revenue by attracting tourists across the State by providing the best facilities including luxury accommodation etc in East Godavari district.
As part of it, APTDC is planning to construct two five-star luxury hotels in the district one each in Konaseema area and Agency area at an estimated cost of Rs 200 crore under PPP mode.
In each hotel there may be 100 suites and swimming pools, and facilities to celebrate functions.
According to officials, on an average 23 lakh tourists visit various tourist spots every month. Plans are afoot to construct hotels with limited rooms adjacent to River Godavari in Rajamahendravaram. There are no proper accommodation facilities in the interior areas and the tourists are facing problem in this regard.
Though there are star hotels in Rajamahendravaram and Kakinda, they are away from the tourist spots and the tourists are facing problems to return to the cities in the evening.
Temple tourism, water tourism, eco-tourism, boat shires and cruise to picturesque Papikondalu etc are available in the district.
Speaking to 'The Hans India' here on Wednesday, tourism officer Venkatachalam said a letter was sent to the Revenue department to allot 20 acres of land each in Konaseema area and the Agency area.
In Konaseema, the place is not yet decided and in the Agency area, the hotel may be constructed in Maredumilli or at Chintoor. After getting land, the department will take next step, he added.
