Vijayawada: The Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) has decided to increase the bus fares to save the RTC, which has been facing losses. The RTC will increase 10 paise per kilometre for Palle Velugu and city bus services.

Transport Minister Perni Nani said the RTC is facing losses of Rs.6735 crore and facing the burden of Rs.600 to Rs.700 crore due to increase of diesel prices. Speaking to media on Saturday, Nani said the RTC will increase 20 paise fare for other charges.

He said the RTC is facing the loss of Rs.1200 crore per year and the RTC Managing Director would announce the revised charges in a day or two. Minister has made it clear that the government has increased the charges to save the corporation.
