AP State Women's Commission Power Walk today
AP State Women’s Commission will organise Power Walk in the city on Sunday in which Minister for Women and Child Welfare Taneti Vanitha, Minister for Home Mekathoti Sucharita, Minister for Tribal welfare Pamula Pushpasreevani, Chief Secretary Nilam Sawhney and District Collector A Md Imtiaz would participate, according to a press release from the Women’s Commission.

Vasireddy Padma, the chairperson of the Commission said that the Power Walk was intended to advocate women's right to occupy public places as an unconditional and fundamental right, to normalise women's visibility in public places, to change society's perception and normalise women's and other minorities presence there, to scale up and reach out to a wider audience for women safety on the road sespecially as a right and to facilitate a progressive mindset change in the society.
Padma said that the women's commission has the mandate to safeguard the constitutional rights of women. She said that the society has absolutely no right to violate her physically, sexually and psychologically.
Power Walk is an initiative to bring gender awareness in the society against the social evils affecting the rights of women, she asserted. The power walk would commence at 6 in the evening on Sunday at the PWD Grounds and culminate in a meeting at Kshetraiah Kalakshetram, she said.
