Polling started on a peaceful note for Guntur Municipal Corporation to elect 56 corporators at 521 polling centers in Guntur city on Wednesday.
Guntur: Polling started on a peaceful note for Guntur Municipal Corporation to elect 56 corporators at 521 polling centers in Guntur city on Wednesday.
Women, youth, old age persons actively participated in the polling and exercised their franchise. Serpentine queues were seen at the polling centers since 7 am. The Police made elaborate security arrangements at polling centers to check untoward incidents.
Similarly, polling started in Tenali, Repalle, Chilakaluripet, Sattenapalli, VinuKonda municipalities to elect new bodies. The Polling is going on peacefully and so far no untoward incident was reported from anywhere.
District collector Vivek Yadav, Tenali subcollector Ashok Mayur visited polling station at Chenchupet in Tenali and examined polling process.
7.51 percent polling was registered till 9am in GMC.
