The government issued a gazette notification on bar licenses throughout the state on Friday. The government has already decided to implement a new bar policy with effect from January 1.

The government issued a gazette notification on bar licenses throughout the state on Friday. The government has already decided to implement a new bar policy with effect from January 1. Under the new bar policy, Rs. 10 lakh Bar license application fee has been decided by the government.

The licenses will be issued for two years from January 1 to December 31, 2021. The government will allocate bars to ensure that the municipal corporations, municipalities and panchayats in the state are unitary.

Applications will be accepted online from today till December 6. Collectors will pick up the lottery at 2 pm on December 7 and would release a list of bar allocations at 7 pm that same day.

The details of the non-refundable registration and license fees of the new bars decided by the government are as follows:

In areas with a population of under 50 thousand, the license of bar costs about Rs. 25 lakhs while in towns with a population of less than 5 lakhs, the bar costs Rs. 50 lakhs

In areas with a population of more than 5 lakhs, the bar license costs Rs. 75 lakhs.
