From the 16th position, Andhra University has slipped to the 19th rank in the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) among all universities across the country

Visakhapatnam: From the 16th position, Andhra University has slipped to the 19th rank in the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) among all universities across the country.

As far as overall category is concerned, AU scored 36th rank from the 29th rank scored last year. This year, there were 1,667 entries received compared to 1,479 received last year for the overall category.

The Indian Institute of Technology, Madras topped the overall rankings. It was followed by the Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru and the IIT-Delhi.

Among the rankings of the universities, Sri Venkateswara University, Tirupati, moved 10 notches ahead, scoring 38th rank from the 48th position scored last year.

While the AU Architecture Department got the ninth position among architecture institutions in the country, AU College of Engineering scored 69th rank.

Lauding the efforts made by the staff, AU Vice-Chancellor P V G D Prasad Reddy said every step was considered to improve the rankings and place the varsity on a global map.

The Ministry of Human Resource Development has been ranking the higher educational institutions under NIRF to strengthen healthy competition among institutions and achieve excellence in various parameters.
