Floods in rivers for the past three months has caused difficulties for sand mining. But in the wake of the floods diminishing from last couple of weeks the stockpiles are filled with sand. With this the sand will be available for next three years without interruption.

Sand mining permits were issued in Srikakulam, East Godavari, West Godavari, Guntur, Kadapa, East Godavari, Krishna, Prakasam, Anantapur and districts.

While the government is selling sand, it is earning over Rs 2 crore per day. But if 2,82,224 tonnes of sand were available on Thursday, only 71,735 tonnes were booked. So this alone is Rs. 3 crores 42 lakhs of government revenue.
