Kurnool: District collector G Veera Padiyan has said that the Amma Vodi scheme is a revolution in the education sector and inspired several people and educationists from across the nation.
The collector said that as many as 6,84,197 students would be benefited under the scheme. The total amount of Rs 619 crore, Rs 15,000 into each account, would be deposited directly into 4,12,884 parents' accounts. He along with MP Sanjeev Kumar and MLA Hafeez Khan participated in the launching of second phase of Amma Vodi scheme organised at Indira Gandhi Memorial Municipal High School in A Camp on Monday.
Addressing the gathering, the collector said Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy has introduced such a novel scheme which no one has started across the globe. The scheme is aimed at every student hailing from poor background should not suffer for pursuing higher education. The second phase of Amma Vodi amount was directly deposited into the accounts of ward parents, said the collector.
Expressing concern, the collector said the district was lagged far behind in education sector. He urged the parents to utilise the Amma Vodi scheme and encourage their children to pursue higher education. Drastic changes are likely to take place in Amma Vodi in the years to come. The government with an aim to give a bright future to the students, has launched the scheme. He told the parents to give the details of students to school headmaster if they did not get Amma Vodi benefit.
MP Sanjeev Kumar said the children of daily wage earners could pursue higher education and attain top positions in their career. As part of Jagananna Vidya Kanuka, every student pursuing education in government school, was given a school kit containing three pairs of clothes, school and notebooks, a pair of shoes, socks, belts and school bags. He asked the students to thank Jagananna for launching a novel scheme Amma Vodi.
MLA Hafeez Khan said Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy has kept his promise made to the people of Andhra Pradesh. The welfare schemes assured to the people are being implemented successfully despite financial constraints. Several welfare schemes have been launched providing a big platform to education, medicine, agriculture and women groups, said Hafeez Khan.
