Amaravati: TDP demands Rs 10,000 relief to cyclone-hit families
- Naidu leads rally of party MLAs, MLCs to Assembly
- This is greatly necessary considering the loss of livelihoods and work opportunities in view of the cyclone, they say
Amaravati: Demanding Rs 10, 000 immediate compensation to farmers who suffered heavy losses in the cyclone affected areas, the Telugu Desam party's MLAs and MLCs led by former Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu took out a rally to the State Assembly here on Monday.
The TDP leaders demanded that the government give compensation immediately so that it would help the farmers to take up the Rabi crops without any difficulty. Holding damaged plants of paddy and corn in their hands, the Opposition party MLAs and MLCs underscored the gravity of the cyclone impact.
The TDP leaders held placards and raised slogans demanding Rs 10,000 cyclone relief assistance to each poor family in all the affected areas. This was greatly necessary considering the loss of livelihoods and work opportunities in view of the cyclone.
The TDP criticised the YSRCP government for not allowing the farmers to pay the crop insurance premium. The government promised to pay the premium by itself but it did not fulfil its promise. Thus, the ruling party made the farmers believe its promise and then betrayed them. The government should stop betraying the farmers any further and immediately pay the compensation without fail.
The TDP leaders deplored that the farmers were not getting the micro irrigation subsidy and input subsidy and disaster compensation were not being paid. CM Jagan Reddy turned out to be a 'betrayer of farmers'.
Even under the Rythu Bharosa, over Rs 20,000 crore benefits were not given to the farmers. 'Annadata Sukhibhava' was cancelled. By not giving the loan waiver dues, the government betrayed the farmers for an amount of Rs 8,000 crore. The Opposition would not keep silent if the meters are fixed on the farm pumpsets. The farmers would chase the YSRCP out of Andhra Pradesh, said the TDP leaders.
The Opposition leaders accused the YSRCP of destroying all the systems and institutions in the State. The farmers lost the Central government share of crop insurance and also the State government share. A rule by betrayers is going on in the State. All sections of people are suffering under this '420 regime', they alleged.
