Amaravati: Panel on styrene gas leak meets officials, experts
The high-power committee set up by the state government to probe the styrene gas leak at the LG Polymers in R R Venkatapuram in Visakhapatnam had a detailed discussion with district collector on May 9. He briefed about the accident, evacuation operations and the details related with immediate response after the accident.
Amaravati: The high-power committee set up by the state government to probe the styrene gas leak at the LG Polymers in R R Venkatapuram in Visakhapatnam had a detailed discussion with district collector on May 9. He briefed about the accident, evacuation operations and the details related with immediate response after the accident.
The team also met Abani Ray, director of Indian Institute of Petroleum, Dehradun and Shantanu Geete, styrene expert from Supreme Industries, Mumbai, who were appointed by the Union Cabinet Secretary to submit preliminary findings on the incident, sought their views on the accident and remedial measures to prevent the recurrence of such tragedies.
The members of the panel heard, held discussions and took representations from local NGOs environmentalists and public health activists, the industry associations, CIL AP Chapter, FAPCI, Federation of Andhra Pradesh Small and Medium industries Association, AP Chambers of Commerce and Industry Federation.
It elicited the views of the NDRF team, the NEERI team and the health team in the relief operations on Monday. Those interested can mail their observations on the fatal incident to convenorhpc@gmail.
