Amaravati: The School Education and Higher Education departments in the State have to take proactive steps in creating awareness among students on dos and don'ts related to coronavirus, before they close the institutions.
It came to the notice of the government that despite issuing guidelines to the schools on preventive measures of communicable coronavirus disease, majority of the schools did not follow them.
The parents also opined that if the students got the awareness on how to protect themselves from the virus, in the school itself, then they practice the same at home and public places. Officials at the Education Department informed that they will take necessary action.
School Education Department Principal Secretary B Rajasekhar informed that the government has been directing all the educational institutions in the State to follow the protocols.
Minister for Education Adimulapu Suresh also said that the department has issued strict guidelines to the field employees in the department on COVID-19.
In a circular, the Commissioner of School Education instructed all the schools to create awareness among students about the preventive interventions of coronavirus.
The Commissioner informed that the parents lodged complaints with the government that many schools were still running full-days duly conducting dancing rehearsals, group gatherings for annual school days and others.
The Commissioner issued strict instructions that there should not be any group gatherings or annual school day functions in the State. All school managements including private unaided schools should run half-a-day schools as per the academic calendar 2020-21, without deviation. Any deviation will be viewed very seriously and immediate necessary action will be initiated against the school management concerned, mentioned the circular issued by the Commissioner.
