Anantapur: Andhra Pradesh Finance, Planning, Commercial Taxes and Legislative Affairs Minister Payyavula Keshav on Wednesday termed the move to grant legal status to Amaravati as the State capital through Parliament as a “significant milestone.”

Addressing the media during his visit to Lattavaram village in Uravakonda mandal, the Minister said the coalition government is delivering tangible benefits to the State, attributing this progress to public mandate. He stated that the Centre has extended substantial financial assistance for Amaravati, supported the Polavaram project, safeguarded Visakhapatnam Steel Plant, and sanctioned major investments in railway lines and national highways. Keshav emphasized that Amaravati is envisioned not just as an administrative capital but as a hub for employment and economic growth, aligning with Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu’s vision.

He urged people to recognize the efforts of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan, and the State leadership in advancing the initiative. Earlier, the Minister distributed pensions door-to-door under the NTR Bharosa scheme in Lattavaram, interacted with beneficiaries, and assured resolution of their grievances.

He also offered prayers at a local temple, inspected the Mid-Day Meal scheme at a primary school, dined with students, and inaugurated Gokulam sheds in the village. Officials and local leaders were present during the programme.
