Alla Nani promises action on medical negligence case
The issue of doctor’s alleged negligence in dealing with a delivery case was brought to the notice of Deputy Chief Minister and Health Minister Alla Nani by Dr Lakshmi Kumari of Palakole-based Surya Nursing Home here on Thursday.
Eluru: The issue of doctor's alleged negligence in dealing with a delivery case was brought to the notice of Deputy Chief Minister and Health Minister Alla Nani by Dr Lakshmi Kumari of Palakole-based Surya Nursing Home here on Thursday.
Dr Kumari said the Health Minister that the DMHO Dr Subrahmanyeswari had ordered for closure of nursing home for six months. This action of DMHO would result in damage to the prestige of nursing home, Dr Lakshmi complained.
She was accompanied by a group of private doctors under the banner of Indian Medical Association (IMA) West Godavari unit. Dr Lakshmi clarified that in the emergency delivery case, the patient suffered over bleeding and as a result, "We sent her to another hospital for better treatment."
There was no negligence on the part of the nursing home. But the DMHO ordered the closure of nursing home on the pretext of negligence, she lamented. The group of doctors backed Dr Lakshmi and complained to Nani that the present DMHO was harassing them on the pretext of hygienic conditions and rules and regulations.
'No' was the group's reply when Nani asked them whether the officials asking them for bribes when they inspect private hospitals. Nani promised that he would pursue the case and go through the report on the alleged negligence issue.
If the details in the report match with the action taken by the DMHO he cannot do anything about it as it was responsibility of the hospitals to maintain cleanliness. If he finds any fault with DMHO, he would not hesitate to take action, he made it clear.
