A big day for Jaganmohan Reddy

Vijayawada: The stage is set for the grand event of swearing-in ceremony of Chief Minister-designate Y S Jaganmohan Reddy. The state is decked up for the event. Entire city wore a festive look with flexis and festoons. Hectic activity was witnessed with arrival of VIPs has begun. Governor ESL Narasimhan, who would administer the oath, was the first to arrive in the city.

The Governor and Jagan both had special darshan of goddess Durga. Later, Chief Minister of Telangana K Chandrasekhar Rao also arrived, and he too had darshan of the Goddess.Meanwhile, the district administration has made all arrangements to ensure that the ceremony passes off peacefully and a large number of people can witness the swearing-in ceremony. Though the stadium can accommodate only 30,000 people huge LCD screens have been set up at vantage points for the benefit of large number of party activists who may come witness the event.

Two separate daises have been set up at Indira Gandhi Municipal Corporation stadium in Vijayawada city. The sitting facility is provided separately for family members of YS Jaganmohan Reddy and Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao and DMK leader Stalin.

Bandobust arrangements are made at the venue. The sitting facilities have been provided for 12,000 persons in front of the dais. Separate passes were issued for different categories. Nearly 15,000 to 18,000 spectators can view the programme from the galleries. LED screens were erected at 14 locations in the city as part of crowd management.

Chief Minister-designate Jaganmohan Reddy will go around the stadium in an open-top ceremonial jeep to greet the spectators immediately after entering the stadium. There are six exit gates and seven entry points to the stadium. The pass holders could get the information about entry points like in-gate and out-gate numbers in printed form along with the passes.

He said that the vehicles would be diverted from May 30 at 12 am to May 30 at 4 pm on the nation highways. As many as nine parking places are identified to accommodate 4,100 cars and 770 buses for pass holders. The security personnel have been deployed from Gannavaram airport to Hotel Gateway where the VIPs are staying.

Senior officers have been appointed as in-charges of various sectors to review and supervise arrangements. A master control room has been set up to monitor the arrangements on real time. YSR Congress state programming coordinator Talasila Raghuram said that the separate galleries have been provided for VIPs, MLAs, MPs and senior officials.

Soon after taking oath, Jagan will sign on his party's manifesto Navaratnalu. He will also address the public by explaining his vision on governance, including capital city of Amaravati, Polavaram, special status and other key issues like friendly relations with neighbouring Telangana.

Jagan alone will be taking oath on Thursday and is likely to constitute his cabinet by June 7. It is said that he may convene the Assembly on June 10 or 11 when the MLAs will take oath. Later in the evening Jagan, KCR and Governor Narasimhan will leave for Delhi to participate in the swearing-in ceremony of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
