80-ft master plan road widening works gain pace

Visakhapatnam: Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation Commissioner (GVMC) Ketan Garg directed the officials to expedite road widening works being undertaken from NSTL to Gopalapatnam Kumari Kalyana mandapam junction (Giri Pradakshina Road).

On Wednesday, the Commissioner inspected the 80-ft master plan road in areas including Lakshmi Nagar and Indira Nagar located in wards 91 and 92 of the west zone.

Speaking on the occasion, the Commissioner stated that as part of the 80-ft master plan road that stretches from Gopalapatnam to NSTL, the first phase of 40-feet road widening works has been taken up. He instructed officials to complete these works at the earliest.

Further, he mentioned that several residents had submitted petitions in the public grievance redressal system (PGRS) regarding issues related to the road widening works. The Commissioner interacted with locals and assured them that their concerns would be addressed at the earliest. Along with inspecting the ongoing widening works of the 40-ft road, the Commissioner also reviewed the road map and issued several instructions to town planning officials and engineers.

Later, he inspected sanitation works on the NAD–NSTL road and instructed public health officials not to show any negligence in sanitation management. He emphasised that surroundings must be kept clean at all times and directed that sanitation workers and CLAP vehicles should be deployed as per the schedule.

Zonal Commissioner B Hemavathi, GVMC Chief Medical Officer ENV Naresh Kumar, supervising engineer Praveen Kumar, DCP Ramamohan, ACP Ramalingeswara Reddy, executive engineer Tara Prasanna and others participated in the inspection.
