19,535 AgriGold victims to benefit in East Godavari
Deputy Chief Minister Pilli Subhash Chandra Bose, Agriculture Minister Kurasala Kannababu and Social Welfare Minister Pinipe Viswaroop distributed cheques to AgriGold depositors at Spandana Hall at Collectorate here on Thursday.
Kakinada: Deputy Chief Minister Pilli Subhash Chandra Bose, Agriculture Minister Kurasala Kannababu and Social Welfare Minister Pinipe Viswaroop distributed cheques to AgriGold depositors at Spandana Hall at Collectorate here on Thursday.
Speaking on the occasion, they said that the YSRCP government has fought for the justice of AgriGold victims when the party was in Opposition. They said the victims didn't get any justice during the TDP regime but Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy was giving support to victims and repaying the deposited money.
They recalled that during Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy's padayatra, he assured the AgriGold victims that he would do justice to them if he was voted to power in the state. As part of it, he honoured his promise, they said.
They alleged former Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu borrowed Rs 2.5 lakh crore and did not even pay a single paisa to help the AgriGold victims. They alleged Chandrababu & Co has made efforts to encroach the assets of AgriGold and said we are doing justice to 19,535 victims in the first phase in East Godavari district.
Bose said the YSRC government released Rs 263.99 crore to be paid to the victims who had deposited below Rs 10,000. The compensation for those who deposited below Rs 20,000 will be paid on January 2.
He said those who did not get amount need not worry and they can enroll their names with District Legal Cell Authority or at the Collectorate, Tahsildar's offices. Collector D Muralidhar Reddy, MLCs Chikkala Ramachandra Rao, Somuveerraju, MP Vanga Geetha and MLAs were present.
