13,766 drivers to benefit under Vahana Mitra scheme in Ongole

Ongole: Minister for energy, forest and environment Balineni Srinivasa Reddy and Education minister Dr Audimulapu Suresh on Thursday said that those auto, taxi and cab drivers, who didn't receive the financial assistance of Rs 10,000 under the YSR Vahana Mitra Scheme, can contact the collector or the district transport commissioner for the same.
The ministers formally inaugurated the transfer of second phase financial assistance to registered beneficiaries under the YSR Vahana Mitra Scheme in the collectorate.
Balineni Srinivasa Reddy said that the state government was providing welfare schemes to all people irrespective of parties and added though the financial condition of state was damaged due to the COVID-19, the Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy was trying to keep his word.
As the drivers were facing a hard time due to lockdown, he said the Chief Minister was providing the financial assistance under the Vahana Mitra early in June than October.
Dr Audimulapu Suresh said that the Chief Minister was providing assurance for development of poor in the state with the implementation of welfare programmes.
He said that to keep his promises, the chief minister was providing benefits to all people irrespective of the caste and creed and that is how nearly about 3.50 crore people in the state received direct money transfer in their accounts.
He advised the drivers to utilise the money received for the insurance, fitness certificate, and repairs and advised them to not indulge in drunken driving.
Collector Dr Pola Bhaskara said 13,766 drivers received the financial assistance under the YSR Vahana Mitra in the district.
Chirala MLA Karanam Balarama Krishnamurthy, Santhanuthalapadu MLA TJR Sudhakar, Giddalur MLA Anna Rambabu, JC TS Chetan, DTC Dr. B Krishnaveni and others also participated in the programme.
