The Office (India) Episodes 04-07 Review

The initial three episodes have to be classified as the show warm-up but then they did not have much fire to let us continue.

As the downsizing threat kept growing, we don't see the real urgency we see in an Indian set-up. We don't get that pure Indianness from the show.

It just works on paper but when you some of the actors on TVF or another successful web platform shows from India, we can make out the clear cut difference between what really lacks in this show and how well the shows are written there.

Here, even though the jokes are almost layed out on paper in the best way possible for the makers, they fail to understand what is really needed to bring out the humour as it intended. Some jokes get repetitive and we don't feel the chemistry between the major leads as much as the show wants us they have.

Humour depends on the chemistry too. Gopal Dutt is able to work out a way to make his lines funny but others even though are not horrible, they just don't have enough comic chops to raise beyond the mediocre lines.

Sarabhai vs Sarabhai could catch the essence of high class society vs middle class society humour much better than this one. Watching it available on the same platform makes us crave for it more than this one. Let's see if next six episodes improve.
