Welfare should reach last beneficiary: MP Arvind
Nizamabad: Nizamabad MP and District Development, Coordination and Monitoring Committee Chairman Dharmapuri Arvind said the last beneficiary of the welfare schemes should also receive funds released by the Central and State governments.
MP Arvind presided over a meeting of the District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee on implementation of the central government schemes at the Pragati Bhavan conference hall on Thursday.
On the occasion, he first greeted people for Navaratri and Bathukamm festivals. Speaking to the committee members and officials on the occasion, he said, "We all work together for the public, regardless of which party we belong to. We have to think about how we can serve the people better and how to use the funds," he said.
Members were asked to raise the honoraria of the midday meal scheme agency members. Salaries are not coming in timely as the Central government does not release funds in a timely manner. Members said the delay in funding from the Centre would make it difficult to improve the facilities in schools. MPs told the MP that vegetable bills in Anganwadi centres had been piling up due to the lack of ICDS funding from the Center. Members pointed out that it was difficult for the mothers and pregnant women with inadequate funds to get proper nutrition.
District Collector Rammohan Rao said that 41 schemes are being implemented in the country by the Central government. Only 33 schemes have been applied to our district. The Fourteenth Financial Committee said the funds would be released to village panchayats at a rate of Rs 1,400 per person.
He said that the Gram Panchayats would be funded and that donations and Gram Panchayats should be planned and developed. On the occasion, the committee approved the proposal of the Central government to send funds directly to the villages to undertake work as a village unit in the employment guarantee scheme.
The committee meeting was attended by DRDO Ramesh Rathod, district officials and committee members.
