Weather man warns of heavy rains

Sangareddy: In a warning to Telangana, the Met department said on Monday that heavy to very heavy rain is very likely to occur on August 6 and 7 at isolated pIaces across Telangana, as a low pressure area has formed over north Bay of Bengal and adjoining coastal areas of Bangladesh and West Bengal under the influence of the cyclonic circulation over the Gangetic West Bengal and adjoining north Bay and Bangladesh.

The department bulletin said the associated cyclonic circulation is likely to become more marked during next 48 hours. The trough from south Gujarat runs up to the cyclonic circulation associated with the low pressure area over north Bay and its neighbourhood across north Maharashtra, South Chhattisgarh and south Odisha.

Meanwhile, with the Southwest Monsoon turning weak over Telangana during the last 24 hours ending at 8.30 am on Monday, rain occurred at a few places, according to the Met department. The chief amounts of rainfall (in cm) were: Peddemul (Vikarabad district) 3, Narayankhed, Kohir, Munipalli (all in Sangareddy), Papannapet (Medak), and Vikarabad 2 each.

There was one cm rain each in Mominpet, Bomraspeta, Medak, Nawabpet, Regode, Raikode, Tandur, Marpalle, Dindigul, Narsapur, Tekmal, Alladurg and Gajwel.

According to the forecast, light to moderate rain or thundershowers are very likely to occur at most places across Telangana from August 6 to 9. No large change during the period August 10-12 is the weather outlook.
