Warangal: Awards for excellence in child development presented

Warangal: Education is the only panacea for all social evils, District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) secretary GV Maheshnath said while addressing at an awards ceremony jointly organised by the Girls Advocacy Alliance (GAA) and the FMM Social Service Society here on Thursday. FMM Director Sister Regina Chinnappa presided over the meeting.

"The DLSA would be right up with the institutions working for the welfare of the children in extending its support. Administration and people need to work wholeheartedly to prevent the child marriages, child labour and child trafficking," he said. Women Development and Child Welfare Regional Coordinator Kamarunnisa said that protection of child rights should begin with family itself. "Responsive parenting is the need of the hour in child development," she said.

Child Welfare Committee (CWC) Chairperson Mandala Parashuramulu said: "It augurs well for the child development if the government institutions and NGOs work in tandem. Apart from this, people's participation is key in eradicating social maladies such as child marriages, child labour, child trafficking etc." Later, Maheshnath gave away awards to those who excelled in the implementation of child rights and women empowerment. GAA Project Coordinator Bathula Karuna, Project Officer Erra Srikanth, Youth facilitator M Rajyalaxmi, FMM and Childline-1098 staff were among others present. The names of awardees as follows:
