Vote counting centre to be set up at SRR College
Karimnagar: District Collector Sarfaraz Ahmed along with Commissioner of Police V B Kamalasan Reddy on Friday inspected the SRR Degree College for setting up the counting centre and storing of EVM's after the Lok Sabha elections to be held on April 11.
The Collector said that several rooms were inspected in the college for storing the EVM's under tight security arrangements as soon as the Lok Sabha elections are completed on April 11. Library building and Arts College building, auditorium and indoor stadiums are suitable for the counting process, he added.
One guardroom and seven strong rooms will be required for storing EVMs which will be brought from seven constituencies of Karimnagar, Manakondur, Huzurabad, Husnabad, Siricilla, Vemulawada and Choppadandi.
The Collector ordered the concerned officials of the Engineering department to submit the maps of the identified rooms and said that necessary steps were taken not to create any disturbances to the students of pursuing degree and PG courses in the college.
Election observer T K Shibu, Election Police observer Jayanth, Joint Collector Shyam Prasad Lal, ACP Ashok, RDO Bikshu Nayak, Revenue Divisional Officer Anand Kumar, Tahsildar Kanakaiah and Deputy Director of Information department P Bhaskar were present.
