TRS sweeps Parishad polls in undivided Karimnagar district
Karimnagar: The ruling Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) continued its winning streak in the Parishad polls by winning majority of ZPTC and MPTC seats in the undivided Karimnagar district.
Parishad elections were held in three phases on May 6, 10 and 14 in the undivided Karimnagar district.
In Karimnagar district, the TRS grabbed all the 15 ZPTC seats in the district and won 99 MPTC seats. Congress won 26 MPTC seats, BJP won 15, CPI won three and TDP won single MPTC seat.
In Peddapalli district, of the total 13 ZPTC seats, TRS won 11 seats while Congress grabbed two ZPTC seats. Out of the 138 MPTC seats present in the district, TRS won 89 seats, Congress won 33, BJP won six and independents won 10 MPTC seats.
In Rajanna Sircilla district, out of the 12 ZPTC seats, TRS won 11 leaving one seat to the Congress. Out of 123 MPTC seats, TRS won 72, Congress won 18, BJP won eight whereas independents won 25 MPTC seats.
In Jagtial district, of the total 18 ZPTC seats, the TRS won maximum of 17 seats and Congress won only one ZPTC seat. Out of the 214 MPTC seats, the TRS won 143 seats, Congress won 37 seats, BJP won 19 and independents won 15 MPTC seats.
By winning majority of ZPTC seats in all four districts, the TRS snatched all the four Zilla Parishad Chairperson posts and Mandal Parishad president posts.
The elections for MPPs will be held on June 7 and for ZP chairperson post, elections are scheduled to be held on June 8.
It should be reminded here that the ruling TRS has declared former MLA Putta Madhu as its candidate for ZP chairperson post of Peddapalli district. while in other three districts - Karimnagar, Jagtial and Rajanna Sircilla - there is going to be a tough fight among the elected ZPTC members of the TRS to sit in the ZP chairperson seat and MPTC members for MPP posts.
