Tirumalagiri: Drunkard man torches wife by dousing her in kerosene

Tirumalagiri (Suryapet): A man reportedly in inebriated condition torched his wife by dousing her in kerosene at Tirumalagiri in Suryapet district on Sunday.

According to local police, Manemma (28) of Tirumalagiri married Muda Upender, an auto driver, of Eeturu village in 2008. The couple was blessed with a son, and were staying in Tirumalagiri town.

However, of late, Upender became a chronic alcoholic and started harassing his wife Manemma regularly.

On Sunday night, Upender reached his residence reportedly in a drunken state and took up a quarrel with Manemma. In a fit of rage, he torched Manemma by dousing her kerosene and fled from the spot.

Manemma, who was burnt severely, was shifted to government area hospital in Suryapet for treatment. However, she succumbed to her burns on Sunday late night.

Based on complaint of Dhanamma, deceased woman's mother, Tirumalagiri SI Daniel Kumar registered a case against Upender and initiated the probe.
