Telangana: Special flight with 279 people takes off from Bahrain
Hyderabad: BJP Telangana Gulf Non-Residential Indians (NRI), Coordination Committee, chairman Totapalli Srinivas said a special flight with 279 stranded people of Telangana from Bahrain has got clearance to land at the Shamshabad Airport.
In a statement here on Wednesday, he said that several of those from Telangana stranded at Bahrain are those who have lost their jobs. Besides, several others who have gone to that country on tourist visas. Srinivas said that the Indian Club, Bahrain has taken the initiative to send the stranded people from Telangana on a chartered flight. However, the flight could not get clearances to land at Samshabad Airport.
Following this, the State BJP president Bandi Sanjay Kumar had taken up the issue with the Union Minister of External Affairs Jaya Shanker. Following the directions of the Union Minister, officials have taken necessary steps and the flight has got clearances, he said.
The special flight carrying 279 people from Telangana has already taken off from Bahrain to India on Wednesday, he added. He said that several states like Kerala are taking proactive steps to bring stranded people back from abroad arranging special flights under Vande Bharat Mission. However, the negligence of the Telangana government is making people from Telangana stranded in the gulf counties to face troubles, he added.
