Telangana: Orders issued for govt. college in Nalgonda

Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao on Monday issued orders sanctioning a government college in Halia of Nalgonda district. He directed the officials to make arrangements for the construction of degree college. The foundation for the degree college will be laid soon and the classes will be commenced next year i.e, from the academic year 2021-2022.

Halia in Nalgonda district is a part of Nagarjunasagar assembly constituency where the sitting MLA Nomula Narasimhaiah died necessitating a by-election.

The government also approved many projects in the erstwhile Nalgonda district including lift irrigation schemes at a cost of Rs 600 crore. One of them was the Bothalapalem-Wadapally lift irrigation scheme near Wadapally village in Damaracherla mandal which will be built at a cost of Rs 229.25 crore and the other Dunnapothulagandi-Balnepally-Champla Thanda lift irrigation scheme near Chityala village of Adavidevulapally mandal would be taken up at Rs 219.9 crore.

Apart from it, Nellikal lift irrigation scheme near Nellikal village of Tirumalagiri Sagar mandal will be taken up with Rs 72.16 crore. Through the Nellikal lift irrigation scheme, 4,175 acres of land in Nellikal, Errachervu Thanda, Godumadaka, Jammanakota, Nagarjunapeta, Chechonithota, Sapavatthanda, Pilligundla Thanda and Jal Thanda will be irrigated.
