Telangana: Muslims offer Juma-tul-Vida prayers at home as Mecca masjid marked as red zone
Telangana: For the first time in 423 years, Muslims in the Hyderabad offered Juma-tul-Vida prayers at home due to the coronavirus induced lockdown. The areas like Charminar and Mecca Masjid also marked as red zones with the areas wearing a deserted look on the last Friday on Ramzan.
Usually, the areas witness huge public gatherings at the mosque in Charminar and Mecca Masjid on the last Friday of the festive season. As the public movement in these areas is restricted, Juma-tul-Vida prayers were held at Jama Masjid with a small gathering.
Hyderabad police commissioner Anjani Kumar and the police camped at the Charminar to ensure complete lockdown.
Like Juma-tul-Vida, Jagne ki rai or Shab-i- qadr prayers also held at homes due to the lockdown. People say that areas at the three mosques witness Eid celebrations with the hundreds of people gathering to offer prayers. Earlier, the three mosques - Charminar, Mecca Masjid and Jama Masjid wore the deserted look like yesterday during the plague, Spanish influenza and cholera outbreak.
