Telangana Budget figures are an illusion: Congress

Update: 2020-03-09 02:38 IST

Hyderabad: The Congress on Sunday has described the State budget as an illusion as it was nowhere near to the facts and the budget figures have been exaggerated.

Addressing the media, after the presentation of budget to the Assembly, CLP leader Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, along with MLAs K Rajagopal Reddy, D Sridhar Babu, T Jagga Reddy and MLC T Jeevan Reddy, said that the revenue estimates have been shown abnormally.

He said that the revenue in the next financial year is estimated at Rs 1.82 lakh crores which was 25 per cent more than the estimates of the financial year of 2019-20.

He said that the government presented Vote on Account budget for Rs 1.82 lakh crores for 2019-20 and reduced it to Rs 1.46 lakh crores when regular budget was presented.

Though it did not receive the revenues, again it has raised them to Rs 1.82 lakh crores. The State budget meant only to make publicity of the government and there was no reality in revenue and expenditure estimates.

He said that when the economy of the State was growing well between 2014 and 2019 the annual growth of revenue estimates of the state was shown by 15 per cent and when the economy has slowed down it has been raised to 24 per cent.

Vikramarka said that the government was trying to show that it would implement the schemes in next financial year as it failed to do so in present year. There was no mention of allocations to unemployment allowance.

The scheme to provide three acres of land to Dalits was not mentioned in the budget, no allocations have been made for improving infrastructure and the government has been trying to fool the people.
