Suryapet: Minister Jagadish chides Nagarjuna Sagar Project officials

Suryapet: Minister for Energy G Jagadish Reddy on Tuesday as the officials of Nagarjuna Sagar Project no to pass the time with numbers magic instead provide irrigation facility to tail-end farmers.

Along with District Collector Amoy Kumar, he conducted a review meeting with NSP officials at the Collectorate meeting hall in Suryapet.

Addressing the meeting, he said that the credit of giving water to Rajavaram first major canal in the past 50 years goes to CM KCR.

He discussed with officials the issue of providing irrigation facility to tail-end farmers of Sagar Left Canal Ayacut.

He instructed officials to make necessary plans to provide water for second crop to Sagar Ayacut farmers to realise the promise of Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao.

He questioned officials that why water is not reaching to the tail-end lands even though the projects are brimming with sufficient water?

Pointing out to the Rajavaram and Perur majors, he questioned officials that why were they ignored the last 5 kms of 27 Km stretch in order to provide water to 27,000 acres under the two majors.

He directed the officials to submit report on the water levels in the project and directed them to take necessary steps to provide water to identified Ayacut.

He advised officials to make necessary plans to construct check dams at upper areas to draw extra benefit from them.

He suggested officials to review the problems likely to be raised in summer due to release of excess water. He directed officials to explore the ways to provide water to tail-end lands in Huzurnagar Assembly constituency.

In this programme, Tungaturthy MLA Gadari Kishore Kumar, Huzurnagar MLA Shanampudi Saidi Reddy, JC Sanjeeva Reddy and NSP officials and staff participated.
