Suryapet: Fill all village ponds with Godavari water, Jagadish tells officials

Suryapet: Energy Minister G Jagadish Reddy on Wednesday directed the Irrigation officials to fill all village ponds with Godavari waters in Suryapet district. The Minister held a review meeting with the irrigation officials to ascertain the status of the village ponds in the district at his camp office in Suryapet.

Addressing on the occasion, he advised officials to fill all the village ponds with Godavari water which are linked with the SRSP canals within a week. Besides filling of village ponds, he directed the officials to provide irrigation water to minor canals located in agriculture lands in order to know the ground reality of the canals.

He advised them to bring the matters pertaining to problems being facing with regard to Kaeshwaram waters his notice for necessary action.

government is ready to take up works suggested by irrigation officials with regard to Kaleshwaram waters as the government-sanctioned Rs 640 crores for modernization works of SRSP canals in the district.

He suggested the irrigation officials provide full details of canals, ponds, water bodies and distributaries under their territorial jurisdiction.

Minister informed officials that he will convene another meeting with them after one week to know the progress of decisions took in the meeting. Local body representatives who took part in the meeting also gave few suggestions to the Minister with regard to SRSP canals in the district.

Minister also enquired about the status of Musi project during the meeting.
