Southwest monsoon turns vigorous

Vikarabad: The Southwest Monsoon has turned vigorous across Telangana during the last 24 hours ending at 8.30 am on Friday, with rain occurring in Siddipet, Vikarabad and Ranga Reddy districts, according to the Met department bulletin.

• Bejjanki (Siddipet) records 4 cm, Tandur (Vikarabad), Saroornagar (RR), Dubbak (Siddipet), Peddemul (Vikarabad), Nangnoor (Siddipet), Nawabpet (Vikarabad) and Mominpet (Vikarabad) 3 cm each

• 2 cm of rainfall each in Kondapur, Golkonda, Nanganur, Kohir, Papannapet, Sadasivpet, Vikarabad, Kodangal, Hayathnagar, Kondapak, Doma, Munipalli, Medak, Naykal, Kondurg, Pargi, Narayankhed, Chevella, Serilingampally

• Heavy rain may occur at isolated places across the state in coming days

The chief amounts of rainfall (in cm) were:

Bejjanki (Siddipet) 4, Tandur (Vikarabad), Saroornagar (RR), Dubbak (Siddipet), Peddemul (Vikarabad) , Nangnoor (Siddipet), Nawabpet (Vikarabad), Mominpet (Vikarabad) 3 each.

There was two cm of rain each in Kondapur, Golkonda, Nanganur, Kohir, Papannapet, Sadasivpet, Vikarabad, Kodangal, Hayathnagar, Kondapak, Doma, Munipalli, Medak, Naykal, Kondurg, Pargi, Narayankhed, Chevella, Serilingampally, Chegunta, Raikode.

The bulletin warned of heavy rain very likely to occur at isolated places across the State on August 3, 5 and 6. Light to moderate rain or thundershowers are very likely to occur at many places in the State from August 3 to 6. No large change during the period August 7-9 is the weather outlook.

The rain is being caused by the upper air cyclonic circulation over the west-central Bay of Bengal off north coastal Andhra, which lies over the west- central and adjoining northwest Bay off the north Andhra-south Odisha coasts.

An upper air cyclonic circulation lies over north coastal Odisha and neighborhood. A fresh low pressure area is likely to form over the north-east Bay and its neighbourhood around August 4 and is likely to become more marked subsequently.
