Shamshabad airport Authorities Seized 24.61 LAkh Worth Smuggled Gold
Hyderabad: The officials of Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI), Hyderabad seized Rs 24.61 lakh worth gold weighing about 652 grams at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) on October 14.
According to DRI sleuths, based on specific intelligence they intercepted a passenger who had arrived by Indigo Airlines Flight No. 6E 1406 from Sharjah to Hyderabad and on examination found that he was smuggling the gold.
The passenger was wearing customized Jean's pant in which gold in paste form was hidden and stitched in the waistband and bottom hem area weighing 843 grams, which was after extract weighed 652.95 grams gold worth Rs 24.61 lakh. When the passenger did not produce any valid documents, they took him into custody and are investigating the case.
