SCB Residents urged for Permanent solution to drain overflow sought
Cantonment: Residents of Secunderabad Cantonment Board (SCB) are facing tremendous hardships due to sewage overflow. As the drain frequently gets blocked, the sewage water overflows on to the roads. The main reason is that the sewer lines are almost 45 years old and have never been replaced.
In many areas the drain pipelines are very old and hence, there is an overflow in areas like Vasavi Nagar, Trimulgherry, West Marredpally, Lal Bazaar, Bolaram, Old Bowenpally and Rasoolpura
"The sewer lines have become old and a moderate amount of rain is enough to make the situation worst. The rainwater and the sewage gets accumulated on the road and also flows into houses," says Ashok, a resident of ward 4.
"Whenever we complain, they visit the site and carry out temporary repairs, but very soon the situation returns to the same. As the term of Board members has been extended, at least now, we are hoping that they would take development works seriously," said T Satish Gupta, president of Vasavinagar Welfare Association.
It is high time that SCB takes up this perennial problem and chalks out a plan to improve the drainage system permanently," said Ravi , resident of ward 2.
