Hanamkonda: Sanskrit is entwined with Indian culture

Hanamkonda: If you look at other languages, it's apparent that many of them derived grammar and vocabulary from Sanskrit. Some of the languages beyond India have also has the influence of Sanskrit, Warangal West MLA D Vinay Bhaskar said. Speaking as the chief guest at the 'Sanskrutotsava' jointly organised by the University Arts and Science College and Samskruta Bharati in Hanamkonda on Wednesday, he said that for centuries, Sanskrit has had a huge impact on Indian culture, besides on other languages.

"All the Vedas and Upanishads have been connected to Sanskrit. Sanskrit is the lingua franca that facilitates people of different parts of the country communicate with each other. Hence, it's high time that people gird up their loins to protect the language, which is losing sheen under the influence of English, globalised language," Vinay Bhaskar said. He sought the people to give patronage to Sanskrit as well alongside other languages.

Prof Janardhan Rao said that Sanskrit is one of the best and ancient languages in the world. It helps people gain knowledge, he added. Arts and Science College Principal Banna Ailaiah, who presided over the programme, said that they have organised month-long classes in Sanskrit to popularise it among the students. Every language in the country has at least a half of Sanskrit words, he said.

Later, the MLA gave away participation certificates to those students, who attended month-long classes of Sanskrit. Sanskrit Department lecturers Dr Jyotsna, Dr Chander, Dr Karunakar, Arts College Vice-Principal K Rajender, Corporator Boinpally Ranjith Rao, Dr Feroz, Dr O Madhavai, Dr Rama Devi, Dr Pedda Venkataiah, Dr Sadashiv and Dr Ch Raju were among others present.
