He held a meeting with municipal and medical offcials in his chamber on Thursday. Speaking on the occasion, he said that the city was asked to complete the city sanitation plan. He directed officials to look into the prevalence of dengue and malaria in the city and take prevention measures to prevent the spread of swine flu. "There have been no suspected cases of swine flu in our district so far," he said. He also ordered setting up of a ventilator and an isolation ward for immediate action in case of any suspected cases.

The anti-larval programme and fogging should be conducted once in every 6 days, he said, adding that sanitation programmes should be organised regularly in all municipalities. Officials were advised to clean drainages and move the garbage to the dumping yards.

The Collector expressed satisfaction that the use of plastic was greatly reduced in the city. Rao said people should be educated to avoid using plastic completely. Those who use plastic in the future will be fined, he said. The municipality has been ordered to take action if any garbage collection programs are yet to be conducted in the municipality.
