Retd IAS officer Umapathy passes away

Hyderabad: IAS K Umapathy (92) passed away on Wednesday morning due to age-related ailments. Umapathy was a retired IAS officer and also an Urdu poet. He was also the grandfather of Upasana Kamineni, wife of film actor Ram Charan. Umapathy witnessed the struggle of Razakar movement, India's fight for freedom and many more historic events.

An Urdu Poet known for his Shayari and the first Executive Officer of Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam, he was a strong believer in the religion of kindness and generosity. Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao in a statement expressed his condolences to the family members of Umapathy and recalled his services as an able administrator.
