Rationalization of PHCs on cards to provide better medical services: Minister Eatala Rajender

Karimnagar: All Primary Health Centres in the state will be rationalized and some will be shifted to other places where there are required for providing better medical services to the poor in the rural areas, said Health Minister Eatala Rajender here on Monday.

The Minister visited the Huzurabad constituency and inspected hospitals in Jammikunta, Yellanthakunta, Kamalapur and Huzurabad mandals in Karimnagar district. Later, he held a review meeting with the officials of the Health department and public representatives here at the Area Hospital of Huzurbad mandal.

Speaking on the occasion, Health Minister Eatala Rajendar said that several reforms are about to be brought in the Health department to make Telangana as a role model State in the country. As part of that rationalisation of PHCs will be done in the initial stages. Without reduction the number of PHCs, they will be shifted to such places where there requirement is more.

After the formation of Telangana State four medical colleges were opened along with increasing around 700 PG seats, the Minister said, adding that a proposal has also been sent to the central government for additional seven medical colleges. Once all medical students will pass out of the colleges there will not be any scarcity of staff in the hospitals, he pointed out.

A special report is prepared taking family as a unit and health issues they are suffering from along with list of medicines that are required for treating such diseases. So that treatment can be provided at the door steps of the people and protect them from various diseases, Eatala informed.

Minister Eatala Rajendar also said that with an investment of Rs 550 crore all nine major hospitals in the nine districts of the State will be upgraded along with transforming the Karimnagar main hospital into 1,000 bed hospitals to the old Karimnagar district as a medical hub.

The staff that is required will be recruited in Huzurabad Area Hospital along with providing all the facilities for the sake of poor patients who visit the hospital from the surrounding areas.

The Special Chief Secretary of the Health department Shanta Kumari, Director of Medical Education and Commissioner of Telangana Vydhya Vidhana Parishad Dr Ramesh Reddy, Director of Health Srinivas and the Managing Director of Telangana Medical Infrastructure Corporation Chandrasekhar Reddy, the Warangal Urban Collector Prashant Jeevan Patil, Karimnagar District Joint Collector Shyam Prasad Lal, DM &HO Ram Manohar Rao, Warangal DM &HO Harish Raj Karimnagar Zilla Parishad Chairperson Kanumalla Vijaya were present.
