Rallies, speeches mark World Population Day in Mahbubnagar

Mahbubnagar: Commemorating the World Population Day on Thursday, a large number of students from various schools and healthcare workers from across erstwhile Mahbubnagar district took part in rallies and raised slogans to save children from child labour and child marriages, and the importance of controlling population.

In Mahbubnagar, over 3,000 students from all government and private schools, healthcare staff from various PHCs, Anganwadi employees, Asha workers and nursing students from SVS Medical College took part in the rally from Zilla Parishad Grounds to One Town police station and spread the awareness about controlling population.

In Naragarkurnool district, local MLA Marri Janardhan Reddy flagged off the rally of the students. Speaking on the occasion, the MLA said, "India stands as world second most populated country after China and it is important for us to control our population in order to ensure development. Excess population leads to faster deterioration of our resources like land, water, food and other facilities and it will be a big dent on the humanity. Therefore, it is important for every one of us control population," said the MLA.

On the occasion, the officials from Red Cross Society, Education department and Healthcare department took part in a rally to spread the awareness on population explosion.
