Rain wreaks havoc in Zaheerabad

Zaheerabad: The scorching sunny weather and sultry conditions in the day suddenly turned with a downpour, lightning and gusty winds here on Thursday evening. The gusty winds caused damage to the standing crops like mango and papaya.

Trees and electrical polls were uprooted; power supply was disrupted in villages under Kohir, Zaheerabad and Jharasangam mandals. Villagers said they had to spend sleepless night.

The trees that fell across the roads interrupted the traffic. Mangoes and Papayas, which were ready for harvesting fell down due to winds, causing losses to the farmers. Farmers appealed to the government to extend assistance for the crop loss.
