Rachkonda cops, Society for Cyberabad Security Council hold meet for IT staff

Hyderabad: Margdarshak Refresher and Orientation program for employees of IT organisations and other establishments was organised by Society for Cyberabad Security Council (SCSC) and Rachakonda Police at the Rachakonda Police Commissionerate, Neredmet, on Friday.

The 8th edition of first-of-its-kind initiative in India involving IT employees in Hyderabad stressed on creation of resources at every IT/ITES company at Rachakonda and Cyberabad, to provide guidance to women in distress in the process of seeking basic police and legal support.

They are trained by the police, SCSC, psychologists, lawyers and NGOs on how to provide confidential help in cases of violence or abuse and facilitate consultations with the police and other agencies.

The one-day programme covered various aspects of women safety, basic laws and rights, empathy and counselling. Rachakonda CP Mahesh M Bhagwat shared critical case studies, laws related to women, functioning of police and SHE teams. He also answered queries of the participants and explained about various initiatives being undertaken by the police to support women.

SCSC general secretary Krishna Yedula emphasised various initiatives of SCSC – women's safety, traffic safety, cyber security and infrastructure safety – and invited the attendees to join hands in building a safe Hyderabad.

Pratyusha Sharma, the SCSC joint secretary of Women's Forum, spoke on the importance of being aware, gaining knowledge on all the laws and being equipped with to reduce crimes against women by being a conduit between law enforcement agencies and the society.

As part of the training programme, the participants interacted with the CP, Krishna Yedula, Pratyusha Sharma, Padmapriya Chilakamarti, Saleema, Suma Rau and Satyavathi Kondaveeti of Bhumika Women's Collective.

It was attended by 80 male and female employees from various IT companies like Infosys, Genpact, TCS, Cyient, L & T Metro, Cognizant, Melvite Technologies, KHRML, CCMB and so on from Rachakonda and Cyberabad jurisdictions.
