Political parties busy selecting poll agents for counting

Khammam: As the ZPTC and MPTC polls have concluded, the parties have now shifted their focus to the counting day. To maintain transparency in elections, the Election Commission will allow political parties to send poll agents on their behalf to monitor discrepancies and report it to election officers and the party.

As poll agents represent the party, the parties are now working to send the ideal candidates on their behalf. The counting for the Lok Sabha elections will be done at Vijaya Engineering College on May 23. The counting will start at 8am in the morning. Each constituency will have 14 tables and 14 counting agents will be participating in the procedure. Along with them, a reliever will be there to substitute any of them.

The parties are now preparing to submit 15 counting agents for each constituency to Returning Officers. The District Collector and the Election Returning Officer will be issuing passes for the poll agents selected for the seven Assembly constituencies in Khammam parliament constituency. The parties already started submitting applications for poll agents.

As the counting for local body elections will be done on May 27, the applications for ZPTC and MPTC counting agents are also being submitted by the political parties.
