Pattana Pragati to improve sanitation in towns

Vikarabad: District Collector Ayesha Masrat Khanam has directed the municipal official to take up sanitation works for 30 days under 'Pattana Pragati' programme. She visited kothagadi area in ward no 1 here on Monday and inspected the sanitation works.

Speaking on the occasion, the collector said that a clean and green drive was conducted in villages under 'Palle Pragati' programme. Now, a 30-day action plan under 'Pattana Pragati' is being implemented to improve the sanitation levels in towns. She also said that as part of the programme, segregation of dry and wet waste is done, and that they would be sent to dumping yard and DRCs.

The collector asked the members of self-help groups to create awareness among the citizens about segregation of the waste. She ordered municipal commissioner to set up a SHE-toilet in that area as women and girls are facing hardships due to the absence of toilets. Nodal officer Babu Moses, municipal commissioner Bhogeshwarlu and women from MEPMA were present on the occasion.
