Parties seek 25L ex-gratia to kin of deceased students
Hyderabad: Leaders of Congress, Telugu Desam, Telangana Jana Samithi and Communist Party of India have demanded the Governor ESL Narasimhan to announce ex-gratia of Rs 25 lakh to the families of students who have committed suicide due to the goof-up of results of Intermediate examination.
They demanded sacking of Education Minister G Jagadishwar Reddy from the cabinet who not only failed in discharging his duty causing suicides of students but also irresponsibly accused the students and parents causing mental agony to them.
The leaders, TPCC president N Uttam Kumar Reddy, Telangana Telugu Desam president L Ramana, Telangana Jana Samithi president Kodandaram and Communist Party of India leader Palla Venkat Reddy who met the Governor ESL Narasimhan at Raj Bhavan on Thursday urged him to instruct Telangana State Board of Intermediate Education to take up recounting and re-evaluation of every student who applies without any fees and not just to those students who failed.
They demanded for the suspension of TSBIE authorities immediately including the Secretary and order a high-level inquiry with a sitting judge of High Court into alleged irregularities of TSBIE authorities.
Addressing the media after meeting the Governor, Uttam Kumar Reddy said that Intermediate is a turning point in the lives of the students. Due to the irregularities in announcing the results lives of lakhs of students were affected.
He said that the people have lost confidence in the government and said that the suicides of the students were the murders being committed by the government. He alleged that the goof-up has taken place due to Globarena company.
He said that the students were in utter distress and the revaluation of answer papers should be done free of charge. He asked the students not to resort to the suicides and promised that the party would stand by them.
Telangana TD president L Ramana said that the students have been committing suicides with emotions. He said that Education minister G Jagadish Reddy was responsible for the fiasco.
He said that an all-party dharna would be held before the BIE office on April 29. TJS president Kodandaram said that students have committed suicide due to the errors of the government and the Board of Intermediate.
The goof-up in the results has taken place as the Globarena company did not have experience. CPI leader Palla Venkat Reddy said that lot of irregularities have taken place in the Board of Intermediate Education. He demanded that the government should file murder cases on those responsible.
In the representation given to the Governor, the leaders said that nearly 20 students are reported to have committed suicides due to the faulty results released by the TSBIE.
It took 8 days for the Chief Minister to review and to announce the relief. Astonishingly no action was initiated against accused authorities and the Globarena Technologies.
The Globarena Technologies was not qualified as per the tender norms. A criminal case has been filed by JNTU, Kakinada against Globarena Technologies for fraudulent act in processing results.
