Official assures action against erring contractor
Kohir: The callous attitude of a contractor here created ruckus during the construction of a community hospital building. The state government sanctioned Rs 11.5 crore for the construction of hospital. Former Minister Harish Rao laid foundation for the construction on August 30, 2018.
As per the regulations, the electricity meter should be converted to commercial after the tender process is over. But, the contractor has been continuing with the old meter. The officials found the irregularity and fined him for Rs 10, 000. But, the contractor did not bother to pay the fine and still continued with the old meter. The meter number 652 is now showing dues of Rs 9,583.
When The Hans India contacted assistant engineer at electricity department, Habeeb, he admitted that the old meter was not yet replaced. "No complaints received after we fined him. If the situation is still like that, we cut the power connection and take necessary action," he said. The official made it clear that permission for new meter would be given only after all dues are cleared.
