Nizamabad: Karthika Pournami celebrated with traditional fervour
Nizamabad/Kamareddy: On the occasion of Kartika Pournami, devotees thronged Lord Shiva temples across Nizamabad and Kamareddy districts on Tuesday.
Women visited the temples in the early morning of Tuesday and offered special puja. Kanteswar temple, Shambhulingeswara Swamy temple and other Shaivite temples in Nizamabad witnessed long queues of devotees. The hari katha display at Kanteshwar temple enthralled the devotees.
Scores of devotees took a holy dip at Triveni Sangamam in Godavari river where Manjeera and Haridra rivers joins the Godavari. The river banks had shined with hundreds of diyas, lit by devotees.
All Shiva temples across the district were colourfully decorated for the festivity. At Kedaswara temple in Nandipet mandal headquarters, Mangi Ramulu Maharaj gave up fasting, marking the annual jatara here.
Many people from Nizamabad district went to Basara and took a holy dip in Godavari river and offered puja at Gnana Saraswati temple.
