Narayanpet: Collector Harichandana calls for blood donation to save people's lives
Narayanpet: District Collector D Harichandana gave a call to the people of the district to come forward voluntarily to donate blood to save the lives of children suffering with Thalassemia and to save the lives of people in need.
Earlier, the Collector inaugurated a blood donation camp organised by the district administration at Narayanpet Government Hospital on Friday and encouraged the staff of various district department to donate blood. The Collector directed the officials to conduct blood donation camp after she was told that blood stock at the district blood bank was not adequate to meet the requirements of patients.
The Collector said that blood stocks in the district came down due to Covid- 19 pandemic and it is the duty of every citizen to donate blood.
As many as 435 people donated blood in the camp. District Red Cross Society convener Sudarshan Reddy informed that 121 people are suffering from Thalassemia. a blood related disease, who need regular blood transfusion for their survival.
But due to Covid fear, blood donation camps were completely stopped, which led to severe shortage of blood in blood banks.
Additional Collector Chandra Reddy, DPO Murali, district agriculture officer John Sudhakar, assistant director survey Sriram and other officials from various departments took part in the camp.
State Red Cross Secretary K Madan Mohan, Mahbubnagar Red Cross Society Chairman Lion Nataraj, DRDO Srinivas, Lion's Club Member Harinarayan, DM&HO Jayachandra Mohan and others participated in the blood donation camp.
