Nalgonda: Smitha Sabharwal visits Brahmana Vellemla project, directs officials to speed up works
Narketpally (Nalgonda): Secretary in Chief Minister's Office Smitha Sabharwal directed the officials concerned to finish the Brahmana Vellemla Lift Irrigation Scheme, designed to provide water to 1 lakh acres, at the earliest.
On Tuesday, along with district In-charge Collector V Chandra Shekar, Irrigation Engineer-in-Chief Muralidhar Rao and other engineering staff, she examined the Brahmana Vellemla Project surge pool, pump house and reservoir works on the outskirts of Brahmana Vellemla village in Narketpally mandal in the district.
Alimineti Madhava Reddy Project (ARMP) Chief Engineer V Narsimha, explaining the status of the project, informed that the works of surge pool and pump house were finished and 90 per cent lining works were also completed.
Later, Sabharwal examined the reservoir main delivery works and conducted a review meeting with the officials concerned at the Anneparthi village. Officials informed her that out of 3,880 acres, 1,349 acres of land was acquired so far for left and right canals of the project. Agency contractor informed that of the 10.625 kilometres of tunnel works, four kilometers of tunnel works were completed and it would take another year to complete the remaining works.
She directed the officials of associated departments to work collectively and complete the land acquisition process at the earliest and submit reports to the District Collector from time to time. She instructed the irrigation Engineer-in-Chief Muralidhar Rao and project engineering officials to fill the reservoir with water in order to fill 40 village ponds through the project in Kharif season.
Revenue Divisional Officers Jagadish Reddy, Jagannath Rao and Limgya Naik, AMRP Superintending Engineer Sai Baba, Executive Engineer Buchi Reddy, Deputy Executive Engineer Yadan Kumar, Divisional Engineer Vitaleshwar, Assistant Engineer Anjani Devi, Nalgonda Tahsildar Nagarjuna, Narketpally Tahsildar Radha and others attended the review meeting held by Sabharwal.
